It absolutely blows my mind at how incredible one spark of an idea can evolve and explode into a forest fire of greatness.
What started off as a burst of inspiration, stemming out of passion and love towards the world and the individuals who inhabit it, brothers and founders of Free The Children, Me to We and We Day; Marc and Craig Kielburger decided to start up what is now known as the world’s leading platform for social change.
Supported by Telus and RBC, WE DAY is a signature youth empowerment event with the hardest tickets to come by, you can’t buy tickets to WE DAY—Young people earn them by being a part of the global movement of action through giving back to the community, whether it be through volunteering or through the work they do towards social change!
It was my very first experience at WE DAY, and I can honestly say that it was one of THE most energized events that I have ever been to in my entire life.
I was seated in the box seats for media, and had a clear view of the entire arena; IT WAS FILLED UP. Schools and students from all over the lower Mainland, the island and even the Yukon made their way down for the show and boy, were they pumped and ready. When I say energized, I mean you could feel the energy in the air, plus the screams, cheers and dancing never seemed to stop throughout the event.
WE DAY brought together a line up of A-List stars who participate through performance and/or through motivation. Rogers Arena was buzzing with energy as individuals of all ages gathered for the cause of giving back and supporting the inspiring youth of today!
Hosted by Selena Gomez; with headlining acts and talks by inspirational speakers who shared their stories such as Neverest, Victoria Duffield, Spencer West, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Nick Jonas (fan girl moment),Orlando Bloom, Shawn Mendes, Marianas Trench, Donny Yen, and none other than J Lo herself.
I got to see Orlando Bloom up close and personal (well not really, but close enough) as he shared his personal story about falling three storeys and almost losing the ability to walk. This definitely left the audience inspired to thrive everyday of life.
Some of my favourite quotes from WE DAY are by some of the speakers: Just thought I’d share this burst of inspiration-vitamins with all of you,
“If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.”
“If you want something bad enough, you’ll find the will to get it”
No worries if you couldn’t make it out to WE DAY VANCOUVER; you can still join in the empowerment and help change the world through different ways!
Power of Technology
We live in a heavily tech-reliant world where it seems like life itself is recorded on our devices. This is a way to give back to the world through being glued to your phone! Free the Children has created an app with TELUS known as WE365.
This is a free app where young people can use their phones to track and verify their volunteer activities, learn about causes, take daily challenges and rally their friends about topics that they are passionate about . Creating positive social change at the tips of your fingertips.
You can experience the WE DAY VANCOUVER mania with the
MTV broadcast on November 11 at 8 pm E.T and on CTV on November 22nd at 7pm E.T
