Hi Everyone! I am Bree, the gal behind the Vancouver style, beauty, and lifestyle blog The Urban Umbrella. I am so excited to be here today with all of you, and to share a few holiday trends I have been obsessed with. The Holidays has to be one of the most fun times of the year style-wise. It’s during this time that we begin to see sequins, sparkle, and metallic pieces pop up into each and every store. We’re finally able to break away from the routine of sweaters, pants, boots, and rain coats and instead glam up in something a bit more festive and vibrant. Click through to learn about a few trends to rock this holiday season!
Feel Luxe in Velvet
I don’t know if there is any texture that looks quite as luxurious as velvet does. It’s a texture that works perfectly during the winter as it both feels warm and looks it. Create festive and cozy looks this holiday season by adding a plush velvet shirt, skirt or dress into your winter style mix.
Shine in Metallic
Nothing is quite as eye catching as the shimmering glint of a gorgeous metallic. Metallic pieces are stylish year around, but during the holidays they just seem to elevate every look. There’s a reason why “Silver and Gold” is a Christmas sing-along favourite and it’s that there’s something about metallic pieces, accessories, and ornaments that make the holidays feel a bit more festive.
Sparkle in Sequins
If you really want to scream “life of the party” then there is simply nothing quite like sequins to accomplish this. Sequins are always eye-catching, and year-round they are a fun element to add into your style, but during the holidays sequins just seem right. If you feel like being bold this holiday season, than keep an eye out for a sequin skirt, dress, shirt or my personal favourite, sequin joggers! Or, if you’re looking to add a subtle element of sparkle, try adding a beautiful sequin handbag to your outfit.
Be Bold in Brocade
Forget something blue! This year try something brocade! Brocade pieces have become a staple this past season and a great trend for those who want a more demure, subtle, and sophisticated approach to holiday style.
Build on a Basic
You don’t have to go and purchase a brand new outfit for each and every party. Instead, save your bank account and dress up your favourites. Wearing a new pair of glittery heels with your best LBD or pant suit can go a long way. If you want to mix in a holiday trend than add on velvet wrap, a shimmery scarf, or a sequin handbag. Even the simplest of touches like metallic nail polishes do wonders to dress up the ordinary! We don’t have to spend a lot to look as though we have, this season the options are endless.
