Stressed out at work? Need an instant pick me up but don’t want to spend a crazy lot of money on spas? Well I’ve got a lil treat for you!
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to be whisked away to paradise at Lumiere Skin Health and Wellness Centre conveniently located on Granville St! Greeted by the owner and also the woman who personally does the treatments, Marvice, you instantly feel at ease. For someone like me, who has never had a facial or professional massage in my life, she made me comfortable not knowing what to expect and she was extremely detailed in explaining what she was about to put on my skin.
The treatment that was chosen for me was the City Refreshment Treatment, because well, like most of you know, I’m busy. All. The. Time
City Refreshment- A Body and Mind Therapy
This city refreshment includes a mini BABOR facial and aromatherapy massage by using the Aromatherapy Associates pre-blended essential oils. Both facial and massage is customized based on your skin care needs. Be sure to know that your skin will end up looking rejuvenated and leaving your mind feeling renewed. This treatment is best for guests who have a busy schedule and those who want to experience two treatments in a short time. I was able to sample a couple different BABOR Products in that hour.
So the treatment started off with filling out a simple chart of how I ‘currently’ felt – it was this cute lil chart with and I would circle answers and it would give an assessment of my current mood and what treatment and oils to narrow down for my massage. Then I chose the aromatherapy oils for the massage. I wasn’t supposed to think much about it, just kinda go-with-your-gut moment where I would take a sniff and be all holy moly this makes me feel good.
Aromatherapy massage is a mixture of the western and eastern techniques! The Western Swedish Relaxation Massage infused with the Eastern techniques of acupuncture points!
I proceeded to go into her office and had my face scanned using a special program that made it easier to view my skin condition and whether there was any sun damage. I rarely wear sunscreen, like, I hate sunscreen haha I think it’s sticky and smells weird and just ugh.
But it turns out that I have minor sun damage- in Vancouver? Really? And I’ve lived in a tropical 30 degree country most of my life- oh Sam. I also have very dehydrated skin. Needless to say, I was extremely excited to have Marvice lay some hydration on this face.

I definitely recommend you check out Lumiere for a treatment at least once because it is one of the more affordable spa locations in Vancouver. Taking care of your complexion is important and I totally believe in pampering yourself every once in a while!
