Coming from the famous Rain-couver, we literally LIVE for summer. While I love the colourful and bright florals of Spring, Summer is where I thrive. I love soaking up the sun, spending time outside and just enjoying the longer days in my beautiful city. The great thing about Spring and Summer fashion is the easy crossover in your wardrobe. You can incorporate pieces from both seasons and get double the use of your favourite looks!
From your outerwear to shoes, there are so many ways to transition your Spring wardrobe to Summer. Here are 5 tips on how to get your wardrobe ready for summer:
Pick out your light outerwear items and put away the rest
During the spring, you may still need to keep a few of your outerwear pieces in your main closet. The weather still tends to change so quickly. To get your wardrobe ready for the summer, you can definitely put those thicker jackets away to make room for the rest of your summer pieces. I usually just keep a few lighter cardigans, jean jackes and one sweater in case it gets chilly at night or if I run into a place with lots of air conditioning. Try to pick ones that are neutral in colour. Neutrals go with anything from sundresses, shorts to jumpsuits!
Switch up your pants for those light skirts and dresses:
The great thing about the skirt trends these days are the light weight, longer styles that have been trending. I love using my slip skirts or layering over silk dresses during the Spring, and this can be easily replicated for the warmer months.
All you need to do is switch up the sweater for a t-shirt, cute top or a tank and you’re ready with a fun summer look.
I also try to pick brighter colours for my skirts that work for both seasons. I’ve been really feeling the 90s fashion brightness. My favourite at the moment is actually a hand me down from my very stylish mama.

During the Spring and Winter, I love my booties—they keep my toes warm and they are a chic way to go from day to night.
As I transition my wardrobe from Spring to Summer, I like to put those boots away and swap them for more casual, fun footwear.
At the moment, I particularly enjoy easy to wear slides, the infamous granddad slides (made popular thanks to Chanel), and funky sneakers!
Be daring to blend patterns and colours
Spring is usually all about florals and new patterns to brighten up your looks but they work just as well for Summer too.
I like to have some fun with colours and prints! Consider pairing pastel tops with denim shorts, or try bold prints like cheetah or gingham.
Use bags and jewelry to spice up your look
For my YouTube subscribers, you know the gist! I love bags—it’s an addiction, an expensive one haha.
I think bags and jewelry are the best way to compliment any outfit!
Honestly, I’ve been spending less on clothes and really thriving in rewearing what I have and it has forced me to be a lot more creative with how I pair items. Also, a lot more sustainable. With bags, I have my favourites and use them to really dress up an outfit, which makes restyling way more fun.
We can’t forget accessories! I’m all for the dainty pieces that complement day to day wear, and not shying away from the bolder pieces as well.
Open your closet and start playing dress up! You’d be amazed at how many new looks you can put together when you’re open to it.
